Mexico: Chontal indigenous accuse the government and mining company Minaurum Gold of possible violations of their rights

Residents of Santa María Zapotitlán denounced that the Ministry of Economy and the company Minaurum Gold have not respected their right to decide nor have they consulted indigenous peoples regarding the concession and exploitation of their territory. They complained that the company Zalamera, a subsidiary of Minaurum, operates without authorization. The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited Minaurum Gold to respond, the response is available. Allegations are only in Spanish available here

We are still investigating the news story...However, below are a few points. Minaurum does not have a subsidiary named Zalamera SA de CV. Minaurum does not own, option or have under its control, a concession called Zapotitlan 1, number 238447. Minaurum has not been contacted by the indigenous community discussed in the article nor by the author of the article.
