MPs to Honduras to urge mine reform

British MPs are to visit Honduras with CAFOD to press for reform of unjust mining laws, and see first hand the harm mining does to people and the environment...The MPs will visit the Siria valley, site of the giant San Martin gold mine run by Entremares, a subsidiary of Canadian-US company Goldcorp. They will meet local communities affected by the mine along with company representatives...The MPs will also meet senior members of the Honduran Congress and government to urge them to pass a new law to ensure the Honduran people benefit from their mineral wealth.
