Northwest Airlines apologizes to ex-congressman Mark Jimenez

Northwest Airlines has apologized to ex-congressman Mark Jimenez and the other Filipino passengers of Flight 71 who claimed to have suffered discrimination from its airline personnel while on an unscheduled stopover in Narita, Japan, earlier this month. "At this time, we sincerely apologize that Representative Mark Jimenez and the other passengers on board Northwest Flight 71 last Dec. 18, 2005, had a less than satisfactory experience," said Patricia Celis, marketing communications manager of Northwest's Manila office. Celis said the United States-based carrier would be investigating the incident... Jimenez said the airline personnel arranged hotel accommodations for the Japanese passengers but not for the Filipinos who were left to wait at the airport's waiting lounge.
