Pacific Bauxite: Appeal fights Solomons project cancellation

6 June 2018

Pacific Bauxite will appeal to the Solomon Islands High Court against the cancellation of its 50%-owned prospecting licence over the Nendo bauxite project. The Australian-based explorer says the grounds for the "completely unexpected" decision, that it's not carried out sufficient prospecting or established amicable relations with the local communities, are factually incorrect. The appeal process is expected to take 6-12 months, while also seeking opportunities for an agreed settlement. Meanwhile, it has transferred personnel and equipment to its SW New Georgia bauxite project.
