In 2013, ten companies from Germany, Italy and the Netherlands participated in the group... The participating companies come from the automotive, building material, chemical, finance, insurance, pharmaceutical, technology, telecommunications and tourism sector...The peer learning group held two meetings and four webinars during this year...The discussions around the implementation of the participants’ human rights projects during the group meetings highlighted the following general lessons: Human rights materialise locally – it is therefore essential to train local managers and sensitise employees on human rights and the company’s due diligence processes...The language of human rights can be difficult for businesses, and it needs to be made tangible for the organisation and different functions and people within it...In designing human rights management approaches companies can learn from experiences made in rolling out global compliance programs in the past...When scaling up a human rights project it is helpful to get on board allies inside and outside of the organisation that help decide if the approach chosen is adequate and to use a dialogue-based approach...
