Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) rejects Israel divestment, revised marriage definition

The assembly voted 457-180 to recommend a boycott of Israeli exports that are produced in occupied Palestinian territories. The measure calls on “all nations to prohibit the import of products made by enterprises in Israeli settlements on Palestinian land.” In particular, it names two product lines — beauty products made by AHAVA Dead Sea Laboratories and date products of Hadiklaim, The Israel Date Growers Co-Operative Ltd. They are often marked by the brand names King Solomon Dates and Jordan River, the measure said. The call does not include a bid for boycotting goods made within Israel proper...The measure calls on Presbyterian entities to “to endorse this boycott until significant progress toward Palestinian rights and independence can be reported.”
