SA firm takes long-term approach to pandemic

Thermal insulation and scaffolding company Kaefer Thermal South Africa [part of Kaefer], in July last year, joined the Sapref oil refinery [joint venture Shell & BP] and the Durban Chamber of Commerce, in Kwazulu-Natal, in a pilot HIV/Aids-management programme that...entails the development and implementation of a long-term HIV/Aids assistance programme...At the time, it was estimated that 15 of the company’s workers had died of HIV/Aids-related causes while being employed in Kwazulu-Natal – the province with the highest rate of HIV infection...Following the establishment of the...project, the Kaefer group formed the Kaefer Aids relief programme...Kaefer International MD Peter Hoedemaker committed further funding to the programme and sent members of the group’s junior executive programme (Jep) to South Africa earlier this year...
