TOFCO workers stage protest

...[Scores] of workers at Trinidad Offshore Fabricators (TOFCO) who are involved in the construction of bpTT’s Juniper platform’s topsides, downed tools yesterday over health and safety issues at TOFCO’s La Brea Industrial Estate facility…[A workers’] representative… described health and safety at the company as “poor” saying there were approximately five shock incidents…severe shock incidents occur from poor grounding of the shock welds, and which can cause serious injury to welders… “…In the night we have issues [with] poor lighting…” Workers are also fearful of a repeat of an incident which alleged occured in 2015 an involved the electrocution of two workers…
