UAE: Sharjah authorities conduct safety inspections of construction sites in response to 274 complaints

"UAE - Over 400 warnings issued for Sharjah construction site violations," 15 Jun 2019

Sharjah Municipality has issued 418 warnings against violations at construction sites [said Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarwan, director of the building inspection department]... Intensified inspection targeting buildings under construction to ensure safety of residents... are being carried out following a number of complaints... The municipality has received 274 complaints during the first quarter of this year [said Al Jarwan]... the civic body immediately addressed these complaints... Major violations included poor condition of the temporary fence, lack of cleanliness at the site, presence of off-site materials or debris, existence of workers' housing at the worksite, lack of an advertisement board or incomplete data, and failing of obtaining tower cranes permits.
