"Oh Polly warehouse staff plan strike after rodents and cold conditions make workers sick", 1 November 2019

Workers at Oh Polly warehouse, in Bromborough say conditions are so poor that they have made some members of staff sick and unable to work...

One warehouse worker said: “There is no heating, so conditions are very cold...if you’re off sick three times you face a disciplinary hearing and you could get sacked. There are also rodents...”

...They added that the workforce are thinking about taking strike action...if there is still no heating...

...A spokesperson for Oh Polly, said: “...we have invested in a new state-of the-art warehouse and office facility, which will be ready in spring next year.

“...we have been in regular discussions with the landlord about the installation of a gas meter...We have taken matters into our own hands and are now in the process of getting gas installed...we have installed temporary industrial gas heaters and offered...additional clothing..."...

...“As soon as we were made aware of a rodent sighting we contacted pest control...They have since issued us with a report to confirm there are no rodents in the building. Our absence policy states if an employee is absent three or more times within a rolling 12-month period, they are required to meet with their manager...This is not a disciplinary process....”
