Unearth Justice: BHP Billiton 'fails to give answers'

An official response from BHP Billiton fails to answer crucial questions about a new mining project which could threaten people and the environment, says CAFOD...Kept in the Dark report, released in October 2008, highlighted how the community of Macambol in Philippines has been kept in the dark about a proposed mine on their lands...People living in Macambol also claim that BHP Billiton’s joint venture partner, AMCOR, offered bribes to members of the community in return for supporting the proposed mine...CAFOD director Chris Bain wrote to BHP Billiton chief executive Marius Kloppers last month, requesting action on the concerns raised in the report.
