UNGC & Freshfields release new report offering guidance to multinational companies on BHR legal considerations

A new report authored by Freshfields offers guidance to multinational companies on the evolving landscape of business and human rights and the related legal considerations. The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights have driven a growing global trend towards imposing legally binding human rights reporting obligations on companies as well as 'harder' obligations to proactively address and mitigate human rights risks. Against this backdrop, companies should consider what is legally required of them to safeguard the interests of rights-holders, what could expose them to litigation, reputational and financial risks and what this means for their existing compliance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies and procedures.
