Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. has been sued in courts in Colorado and Minnesota for allegedly violating the Fair Labor Standards Act...Chipotle is alleged to have "devised and implemented general policies and practices to deprive its hourly paid restaurant employees of the compensation to which they are entitled." Chipotle denies the claims. Denver law firm Bachus & Schanker filed the Colorado lawsuit on behalf of Chipotle employee Leah Turner and "all similarly situated employees." "Chipotle routinely requires its hourly-paid restaurant employees to work 'off the clock,' without pay”...the Colorado complaint alleges..."People working in minimum wage jobs and struggling to get by should be paid for the hours they put in," [Karen O’Connor, lead counsel] said...Chipotle said all of its policies are compliant with applicable laws. "The filing of a lawsuit is nothing more than allegations and is proof of absolutely nothing on its own," Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold said in an emailed statement Thursday. The lawsuits are seeking unpaid overtime wages, unpaid regular wages, liquidated damages and/or pre-judgment interest, attorneys fees and costs for the plaintiffs and "all others similarly situated former and currently hourly paid Chipotle restaurant employees," according to the Colorado complaint.
