USA: Hearst Magazines responds to workers' efforts to unionise with anti-union website sent to employees

The owner of Cosmopolitan, Esquire and Elle magazines is fighting its workers’ efforts to unionize, including by steering employees to an internal anti-union website, according to a report...

...In an email to employees on Monday, Hearst Magazines President Troy Young said that while “some other media outlets have chosen the union path … Hearst leadership does not believe it is the right direction for us...We deeply believe that a union will divide our company and culture, as it has in the last week, and will surely slow us down at a critical time in our evolution without guaranteeing any tangible benefits,”...

...The letter comes after the Writers Guild of America East on Nov. 11 said an “overwhelming majority” of 500 eligible employees on 24 publications had signed pledge cards indicating they wanted to join a union...
