Zim workers abused by Chinese employers

Incidents of physical abuse of Zimbabweans while working on Chinese-owned businesses are on the increase in the country, Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) secretary-general, Japhet Moyo has said. Thousands of Zimbabweans employed by the Chinese have been subjected to both physical and emotional abuse…the union was in the process of approaching government over the issue…what further frustrated the union were the delays taken by some sections of government…Chinese had cited cases of language barriers…as a contributing factor to…cases of abuse…Meanwhile, the Zambian government is currently engaging with the Chinese with a view of improving Chinese labour practices in that country…
