In October 2022, the Apu (chief) Teobaldo Flores, of the Kukama community San José de Saramuro, and Alfonso López Tejada, president of the Cocama Association for Development and Conservation San Pablo de Tipishca (ACODECOSPAT), received death threats through photos and videos on social networks. The threats come in the middle of an indefinite mobilization of the indigenous federations in Loreto concerning the contamination of their territories due to the oil exploitation in the region.
