Jan Cappelle is the co-founder of Organic Farming for Gorillas (OFFGO), an organisation that had published information about abuses and disputes linked to land and business operations in Cameroon, in particular by the Baba Ahmadou Group. Elvis Brown Luma Mukuna and Jan Cappelle received numerous death threat calls during the months of October 2020 and December 2020.

Earlier in 2020, Cappelle was denied entry in Cameroon. Previously, Cappelle was arbitrarily arrested and deported to Belgium in 2016.
