Wisnawati, Idamri, Safridin, Rudi, and Jasman are peasants of Aia Gadang Village, West Pasaman District, West Sumatera Province, and members of the Indonesian Peasants’ Union – Serikat Petani Indonesia (SPI). The five farmers were arrested on 14 July 2022 and accused of committing a crime in public spaces and violence. Local groups claim that their wrongful detention is in retaliation to their involvement in a conflict with the palm oil company PT Anam Koto.
