Mapuche communities from the commune of Río Bueno, Los Ríos Region, gathered to demonstrate against the project to build the Los Lagos power plant, owned by the Norwegian state-owned company Statkraft. The protest was dispersed by Carabineros with tear gas and gunfire. Seven people were seriously injured, including one person with an eye injury.
