In 2017, human rights defender Moisés Jusayú was threatened in Colombia. He was warned by his nephew that the company Enel Green power had given money to his brother José León Jusayu to kill him. He was actively resisting the Wenpeshi wind farm project owned by companies Enel Green Power and Renovatio as well as the highway being built by those companies. He was well known for his work defending indigenous Wayúu territorial rights against renewable energy extractive projects in the region.
