Member of MALOA (Malen Land Owners and Users Association) was sentenced to five months in prison, allegedly for committing abuses against Socfin Agricultural Company (Socfin Group) (oil palm damaging) in its plantation. MALOA maintained that MALOA members were defending their rights to land and livelihood against land grab by Socfin. In June 2016, six MALOA activists were released.
