Death threats and attacks against collaborators of communitarian radio stations and journalists linked to Honduran social movements, human rights defenders and land rights defenders in Honduras were intimidated, allegedly by people linked to the National Party and government of La Paz. From March 29 to April 5, organizers of communitarian radio stations “Radio Progreso”, “Radio Dignidad”, “Indigenous Independent Movement” and “Lenca de la Paz” received death threats and underwent a defamation campaign. The reasons for these aggressive campaigns are allegedly due to their opposition to mega-projects linked to industrial mining and their harmful effects on the environment.
