Rafael Marques de Morais is a prominent Angolan journalist and human rights defender whose work focuses on government corruption and abuses in the diamond industry.Rafael had been due to face nine charges of criminal defamation when he appeared in court in the Angola on 25 March 2015. In May 2015, he was given a six-month suspended jail term for allegedly defaming army generals in a book that revealed killings and torture in the country’s diamond fields.
