The Peasant Development Committee (Codeca) has condemned the murder of Ramón Jiménez López. Ramón was a community defender and treasurer of Codeca's departmental board of directors in Jalapa. The organisation stated that his main struggles were to promote the process of a Popular and Plurinational Constituent Assembly to bring about structural changes in Guatemala. It also promoted struggles for land rights, defence of agricultural labour rights, as well as the nationalisation of privatised goods and services, human rights and land rights.
