Willy Capareño, coordinator of Anakpawis-Batangas, was arrested with Erlindo “Lino” Baez on October 6, 2021 by around 50 elements of the Philippine National Police and the Provincial Intelligence Unit, under charges of alleged firearm possession. Capareño is a long-time organizer of peasants in the province of Hacienda Looc in Nasugbu, Batangas, the Philippines. Baez and Capareño have previously suffered different forms of threats and violations to their rights and those of their families. Capareño has been red-tagged and threatened with arrest in 2019.
