Funding

We are deeply grateful for the generous support of all of our funders.

The majority of our funding comes from donors based in North America, then from Europe-based funders and the rest comes from donors based in other regions. Private foundations continue to provide the majority of our income.

Sources of income

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre

Corporate donations policy

To maintain our independence the Business and Human Rights Centre will avoid any conflict of interest or reputation risk by not accepting donations directly from companies. Our primary sources of income come from independent foundations, governments and individual donors. BHRC’s senior management team will review potential donations from corporate foundations, senior executives at major corporations, and pro-bono legal support on a case-by-case basis where the risk of conflict of interest and reputation risk is judged to be low.

International advisory network and academic partners

Our International Advisory Network of over 70 experts is chaired by Mary Robinson, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and President of Ireland.

Our academic partners are 23 institutions recognised internationally for their expertise in issues relevant to business and human rights.

"A big thank you to the Business and Human Rights Centre because you are making our lives so much more informed and so much easier in this work ."
International Committee of the Red Cross, at the 2023 UN Global Forum on Business and Human Rights
“The technical support from BHRRC has been very productive especially with our work with communities, companies and government agencies. The support has further enabled us to engage with renewable energy companies on the human rights dimensions in the sector which are usually overlooked, engaging with them on how to conduct human rights due diligence and the need to establish effective grievance mechanisms. Through these engagements we have received more requests from the companies for us to help them better address the issues emanating from communities where their projects are based.”
Ruth Getobai Nchagwa, Assistant Director & Regional Coordinator - Central Regional Office, Kenya National Commission on Human Rights
“[The Business and Human Rights Centre] raises the profile and highlights the work of others leading struggles in this space, contextualises, analyses, enables others to draw on this to advance their own work, and at the same time undertakes important research and analysis in its own right, convening and advocating in the right places on the right issues,” - Cindy Berman, Human Rights Specialist
“A huge thank you for the sharing the latest report. This work that you do on business attacks is so important. Shining a spotlight on this data is essential to call for stronger action by government and business.”
Georgina Lloyd, UN
"Thanks for all the work your team does in the business and human rights space. We enjoy your weekly newsletter which often spark important discussions!"
Nayana RenuKumar, Policy Lead, International Relations & Human Rights | Policy Central | AirBnB
