EGM [Emperor Gold Mining] denies pollution accusation [Fiji]

Emperor Gold Mining Company [part of Emperor Mines] in Vatukoula has denied allegations it was responsible for polluting nearby rivers and farms. Neighbours allege they are suffering health complications because of the polluted rivers and atmosphere and are blaming Emperor Gold for it...EGM general manager, Sean O'Connor said the company had conducted tests at nearby rivers and streams...Mr O'Connor said he could not understand the allegations levelled at the mine because they were very careful about protecting the surrounding environment.
