We have seen in recent months new efforts to seed the media with claims that have not been verified or inaccurate.

Some allegations lack factual basis. For instance, the story claims that the health of corals off the island of Mabini has deteriorated "since a nearby LNG plant was built a decade ago."   For the record, our LNG terminal started  commercial operations only early this year, while our plants have been operating for nearly 30 years without any major environmental incident. The fact that the Verde Island Passage (VIP) remains a center for marine biodiversity despite decades of First Gen’s presence nearby is a testament to our efforts to work with the government and the community to preserve the VIP.

The First Gen LNG terminal conducts quarterly Information, Education and Communication (IEC) sessions with all host barangays as required under their respective ECCs, and no such complaint has ever been brought up.  Moreover, barangay clearance, mayor's business permit and other Local Government Unit permits have been secured yearly without issue, evidencing no pending case or unresolved complaints against the facilities from barangay and city residents, including Santa Clara.
