LNGPH is committed to protecting the environment and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations.
LNGPH maintains robust pollution control systems, which includes wastewater and sewage treatment facilities, to ensure that all discharges are within the limits set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Water quality is monitored both internally and through DENR-accredited third-party laboratories, with results regularly submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies. Complementing this, marine ecology monitoring is also carried out in Batangas Bay on a semi-annual basis to evaluate the health of the bay’s marine environment. For more than twenty years, these studies have consistently shown that biodiversity in the area including coral reefs remains vibrant, and that there is no significant decline in fish abundance, except in instances following natural disturbances such as typhoons.
Environmental compliance across all three facilities of LNGPH is monitored by the Multipartite Monitoring Team (MMT), which includes representatives from national government agencies, local government units, barangay councils, community leaders, and other stakeholders. This inclusive oversight ensures transparency and accountability in environmental performance.
In this regard, LNGPH security personnel are deployed only as is necessary to enforce applicable law. The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code requires the implementation of measures, as approved by the Department of Transportation, to safeguard international vessels from seaside threats. It should be noted that in the performance of their duties, security personnel are not issued firearms due to constraints posed by their seaborne operations.
We remain committed to working collaboratively with local communities and stakeholders to address concerns and uphold the integrity of the marine ecosystem
