New tool from DIHR provides snapshot reports on UNGP implementation for National Baseline Assessments on business and human rights

The National Baseline Tool, created by the Danish Institute for Human Rights, produces a ’snapshot’ report on the status of implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in a country based on the information provided by the user.

This report can be used to:

  • Develop a national baseline assessment (NBA), which in turn can support the formulation and prioritisation of actions in a national action plan on business and human rights;
  • Identify/prioritise further research and data collection needs on business and human rights;
  • Develop recommendations on business and human rights;
  • Support reporting to regional and international human rights bodies;
  • Track progress over time.

Users will see a questionnaire with predetermined answer options and supportive guidance. Additional resources are provided under each question to guide researchers interested in diving deeper into specific business and human rights topics. Once the National Baseline Tool has been completed, a downloadable report will be generated for the user, which can also be uploaded on to a public facing database.

You can access the tool at http://bhrbaseline.humanrights.dk/. The tool is free to use and can be completed at your own pace. The only requirement before getting started is to create your own user profile. The tool is available in English, French and Spanish.
