Widows of Pasta de Conchos Mexico mining disaster sue in U.S. District Court [Mexico]

Four years ago today, 65 Mexican miners perished at the Pasta de Conchos coal mine in a powerful methane gas explosion…Three of their widows were scheduled to file a lawsuit this morning in a U.S. District Court in Phoenix because they fear for their lives should the litigation have been filed in Mexico…Defendants in the litigation are Grupo Mexico and its subsidiaries Americas Mining Corporation and Southern Copper Corporation…The plaintiffs claim the defendant "engaged in acts and omissions of knowingly, recklessly and callously creating dangerous conditions in the mine which foreseeably caused the mine exploration on February 19, 2006, and the resulting deaths of 65 miners”.
