Lack of consultation led to people of the communities participating in the mobilizations against the mining company. They had to take refuge in the hills due to the violent incursion of police forces (Grupo de Fuerzas Especiales – FFEE). Leader of Salamanca, Ismael Maldonado, in a conversation with local radio station Radio Villa Francia said: “These days we are experiencing are terrible, we are going through the seventh day, where we have not been heard… with people injured, detained, with confrontations and the authorities have not spoken. Localities that are defending themselves - I want to be clear on this - defending themselves from repression, in localities such as Cuncumen, Llimpo, Batuco, Tranquillo, among others, are attacked by guanacos, skunks, FFEE..." Company response is attached.
