…Migrant Worker Protection Minister Abdul Kadir Karding sealed PT Multi Intan Amanah (MIA), a migrant worker placement company in Bekasi City, West Java, on Friday over violations of rules and contracts.
The minister and his aides penalized PT MIA by placing stickers on its building and installing a board declaring the temporary cessation of operations of the non-compliant migrant worker agency.
"After overseeing this company for the last one and a half years, we have identified indications of ill practices in its migrant worker placement processes," he remarked.
Elaborating on the detected violations, Karding revealed that PT MIA had failed to meet its financial obligations to 58 migrant workers, withholding an estimated fund of Rp1.68 billion (around USD101.4 thousand).
Moreover, he pointed out that the placement company has failed to facilitate the departure of 73 individuals with whom it has signed contracts…
The minister further indicated that the company must address all requirements within three months after the sealing.
He emphasized that sealing this company reflects the government's commitment to enforcing strict measures against illegal practices to provide greater protection for Indonesian migrant workers and deter companies from violating related regulations…
