Juan Aucca is a security guard from Trujillo and an outspoken critic of Prosegur, alleging that company managers have engaged in nepotism, favoritism and that they have subjected workers to dangers on the job due to problematic health and safety lapses. He was a target of a smear campaign in September 2016. On the 19th Sep 2016, Mr Aucca was followed by a car on his motorcyle. The car forced him off the road and he crashed his motorcyle. While he was on the ground, the car stopped. Two assailants threw rocks at Mr Aucca as he started running away. His left ear was cut, but he was not seriously injured. While the identity of these assailants is unknown, both Mr Aucca and his union believe Prosegur managers are in some way complicit the harassing incident.
