On September 3rd, 2017 at 4 a.m., Medardo Mairena was allegedly taken from the cells of the Judicial Assistance Department "El Chipote", and transferred by police to Nueva Guinea. Furthermore, he was allegedly held for 48 hours without being afforded due process. This repressive action constitutes an intimidating message against all the people who defend their lands in the face of the threat posed by the channel project of the Chinese company HKND Group.
