On 10 April 2022, human rights defenders Moisés Jusayú and his son Dicto Jusayú were attacked near their home in La Guajira, Colombia, by José León Jusayu and around twenty armed men. He was actively resisting the Wenpeshi wind farm project owned by companies Enel Green Power and Renovatio as well as the highway being built by those companies. He was well known for his work defending indigenous Wayúu territorial rights against renewable energy extractive projects in the region.

In response, ENEL, the company involved, denied any responsibility, stating, “In no case have company workers attempted the life of a member of the Wayúu community.”
