Never Tshuma, the Chair of the Dinde Development Association, was arrested in April 2021. He was accused of inciting villagers to resist exploration for coal. The Dinde community had been involved in a disagreement with the Chinese company Beifer Investments, which was in the process of starting coal exploration works at the time of Tshuma’s arrest. Zimbabwe dropped the charges against Tshuma on 30 July 2021.
