Vladimir Bozic, an environmental activist from Serbia, together with two other activists was charged with intolerance and violence, after his involvement in a protest against Serbia Zijin Copper in the village of Majdanpek in summer 2022.

The protest aimed to halt blasting activities in the vicinity of Majdanpek, fearing that they would increase the community’s exposure to toxic dust from the extensive mining operations in the area. Vladimir Bozic and other activists also accused Serbia Zijin Copper of illegally operating on state land without the right to expropriate it.

The activist maintains his innocence, asserting that the demonstration was a peaceful effort to oppose hazardous mining operations that threaten both human lives and the environment.
