Ansell response re- ongoing abuses impacting Bangladeshi workers at Malaysian supplier Mediceram

…Ansell prioritises constructive engagement and support over disengagement in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Accordingly, when the allegations arose earlier this year, Ansell chose not to walk away from Mediceram and instead proactively sought to engage with Mediceram, which drove significant remediation progress, including full recruitment fee reimbursement for current workers. However, following engagement with Mediceram in relation to the termination and repatriation of workers, Ansell suspended its supplier relationship with Mediceram after determining that Mediceram was not demonstrating a commitment to constructively engage on these issues.

On 19 November 2025, Ansell was informed that an additional 25 workers were to be repatriated. We engaged with Mediceram again to communicate our concerns and expectations of Mediceram to reinstate all terminated workers and to urgently take steps to use its leverage to prevent the repatriation of workers as scheduled, including through engagement with relevant Malaysian Government departments. We also communicated that if Mediceram was unwilling to take these steps, this would be considered in any decisions by Ansell in relation to reinstating it as a supplier.
