Cambodian citizen journalist and land activist Chray Nim was detained on September 13, 2021 and later released after filming a police station and preparing to interview family members of 30 Kandal villagers arrested in a land dispute over Phnom Penh’s new international airport. The British Norman Foster & Partners and the Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) are contracted to design and build the mega-project, financed by the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC) and the China Development Bank (CDB).
