The BHRC asked Engie to respond to the allegations, and the company did respond:

"We are responding to your request regarding several incidents involving gas in Mexico between 2022 and 2025.

We deeply empathize with those adected and their families, and take the allegations raised with the utmost seriousness.

ENGIE has maintained open and constructive communication with local authorities and stakeholders, supplying all necessary information and support.

In line with our health and safety policy, we systematically report on incidents, launch internal investigations and consult external experts whenever an incident occurs at or near our assets.

Technical analyses conducted have not identified any responsibility on the part of ENGIE or its subsidiaries in these incidents. No responsibility of ENGIE or its subsidiaries has been established by the competent authorities in these matters. Nevertheless we have always odered support to victims and their families, we remain fully committed and continue to collaborate actively with the relevant authorities.

We have also proactively implemented measures to maintain the local natural gas distribution network above legal requirements.
