On December 24, 2021, a criminal complaint was admitted, filed by representatives of the China International Water and Electric Corporation (CWE), subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), against young people who set up a camp on the banks of the Biobío River where there is intention by CWE to install a Hydroelectric Power Plan. The complaint includes allegations of crimes of threats against company officials, qualified damages, and robbery with intimidation. Despite the complaint being directed 'against those who are responsible', the company named about ten young people and promoted the camp's eviction through the police force and private guards. This lawsuit joined another judicial process opened against three other young people who have also opposed the installation of the hydroelectric project.
