Kyrgyzstan: China Road and Bridge Corporation employees involved in brawl between local and Chinese migrant workers; incl. cos non-response

On 15 November 2025, a brawl broke out in the village of Konstantinovka in Kyrgyzstan involving drivers employed by China Road & Bridge Corporation, who directly clashed with Kyrgyz workers during a road dispute. After the incident, police detained 16 people and summoned another 44, including Chinese workers, for questioning. Experts said the incident reflected broader anti-Chinese sentiment in Kyrgyzstan driven by anxieties over China’s expanding economic footprint and the widespread perception that Chinese-backed projects bring in their own labor instead of hiring locals.

The Business and Human Rights Resource Center reaced out to China Road & Bridge Corporation for comment. The company did not respond.
