Malaysia migration: ACC files 13 cases against recruiting agency officials over Tk 1,159cr irregularities

Allégations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed 13 separate cases against 31 individuals of 13 overseas recruitment agencies for allegedly embezzling Tk 1,159 crore through irregularities in sending Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia.

Confirming the development today, ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain said the accused violated registration terms while serving in different positions within the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira).

"This syndicate not only caused financial harm to migrant workers but also tarnished the government's reputation," Akhter added.

The recruiting agencies named in the cases are: Aakash Vromon, Winner Oversees, Shahin Travels, Navira Ltd, Adib Air Travels and Tours, United Manpower Consultancy Ltd, Greenland Oversees, PR Oversees Ltd, Jaharat Associated Ltd, Apurba Requiring Agency, M/S Jannat Oversees, Midway Oversees Ltd, and South Point Oversees Ltd…

With the latest filings, the ACC has now lodged a total of 25 cases related to Malaysia-bound worker recruitment scams, implicating 64 individuals and covering embezzled funds amounting to Tk 2,288.43 crore…
