On 9 April 2024, police arrested nine interfaith climate activists during a sit-in protest at a Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) branch in Toronto. Members of the Faith and Climate Action Network read a statement at the “pray-in” saying they were engaged in non-violent protest to oppose RBC’s “leading role in the destruction of our planet.”

None of the protesters were taken to a police station but were ticketed on site for protesting. Rev. Michael Van Dusen was among the nine ticketed for trespassing and received a $65 fine.
