Stellantis response to Joint Letter by 25 CSOs on a potential Nickel Smelter Project in Indonesia
We would like to clarify that, as of today, Stellantis does not have any joint venture or formal collaboration with PT Vale or Huayou Cobalt. Furthermore, there are no ongoing discussions between Stellantis and PT Vale nor Huayou Cobalt regarding a potential joint venture or partnership.
Stellantis is dedicated to maintaining human rights and ethical principles throughout its supply chain, as outlined in our Code of Conduct, Human Rights Policy, and Responsible Purchasing Guidelines. We align with internationally recognized standards, including the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and the UN Convention against Corruption. We take proactive measures inspired by the International Labour Organization (ILO) rules and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. We require, our suppliers, contractors, and business partners to comply with laws, regulations, and global standards related to environmental impacts, human rights, labor practices, and occupational health and safety and we evaluate the human rights and environmental practices of Tier-1 suppliers through independent third-party audits. Finally, we have increased our due diligence activities to prepare with upcoming regulations such as the European Union Battery Regulation (EUBR) and the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and have prioritized these commitments in our operations to be compliant with the provisions in both regulations.
We would like to call attention to the Stellantis Integrity Helpline, a secure and confidential method for reporting concerns that underpins our commitment. The Integrity Helpline, which is reachable via the Company’s website, allows employees, contractors, suppliers, dealers and members of the public to report any issues that may concern vehicle safety, emissions or regulatory compliance, or violations to our Code of Conduct.
Stellantis expects suppliers to offer channels for employees and stakeholders to report violations of law or human rights and prohibit retaliation against anyone who makes a good faith report of a violation of policy or law.
Thank you again for the opportunity to respond. We would welcome the opportunity to further discuss our approaches if appropriate.
