On 29/03/2018 the community of San Dionisio del Mar was having their community Assembly when supporters of the municipal authorities allegedly opened fire with rifles against the community. In the attack, five members were seriously injured. According to the community, the attack is a consequence of the community opposition against the Mareña Renovables wind park project in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
