In June 2023, two members of Action Labor Rights group in Myanmar, Thandar Soe Lin and Pyoe Myat Thin, were arrested along with union members Ma Aung Aung, Ma Thandar Aye, Ma Ayr Thandar Htay, Ma May Thu Min and Ma Thu Thu San from Hosheng Garment which is a supplier for Zara, and union leaders Thidar Win and Hlaing Win Htet, from Sun Apparel garment factory, supplier for JAKO Sports Clothing. The union members were arrested after demanding a pay raise for factory workers.

Action Labor Rights is a Yangon-based union that has been calling for protection of the rights of workers and has faced threats and other forms of attacks related to their defense of labour rights in Myanmar since the February 2021 coup.
