In an international campaign to hold perpetrators and enablers of atrocity crimes accountable, the United States has formally accused Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of genocide, sanctioning its leader, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo ("Hemedti") and a network of UAE-based companies accused of financing and equipping the paramilitary group.

The sanctions target important RSF-linked companies purportedly functioning in the United Arab Emirates, accusing them of laundering finances, transferring weapons, and exporting Sudanese gold to support the RSF's war. The UAE quickly responded, claiming that it had initiated investigations into the seven mentioned firms and confirmed that none of them presently have legitimate business licences or are legally functioning in the nation.
