In July 2025, an article on World Socialist Web Site describes a series of deaths at different worksites across the USA. The article argues migrants in the country are subjected to dangerous working conditions and are treated as an “exploitable” labour force.

It outlines the death of a 19-year-old Guatemalan worker at Tina’s Burritos frozen-food plant in Vernon, California. The migrant worker was pulled into an industrial meat grinder. The article alleges the death was the product of “profit-driven negligence of basic safety procedures”. In a statement to USA Today, Tina’s Burritos said it was cooperating with local authorities.

World Socialist Web Site also highlights several other workplace incidents over the past year, including:

  • A firework warehouse explosion in Esparto, impacting migrant workers. Earlier reporting by World Socialist Web Site outlines the Esparato firework warehouse explosion in more detail, which killed seven workers largely from migrant families. The warehouse was run by the company Devestating Pyrotechnics, and law enforcement officials issued a search warrant of the company. Reporting by The Guardian includes a statement from the company, which said it would cooperate with authorities.
  • An Amazon warehouse death. A separate article by Daily News outlines the case in more detail, saying the worker was killed after he was struck by a truck at a Staton Island warehouse. The article contains a statement from Amazon, saying it is supporting law enforcement’s investigation.
  • The death of autoworker at Stellantis’ Dundee Engine Plant in Michigan. The article says an autoworker was crushed by an overhead gantry. An investigation allegedly revealed safety violations at the plant. A separate article by ISS Source says Stellantis released a statement on the incident at the time, saying it is working with authorities.

Alongside these cases, the article also mentions the deaths of postal workers from heat exhaustion; a crane collapse in Florida; and a sewage boat explosion in New York.
